My Approach
There are many kinds of therapy. Having trained to provide a number of them, Iβve found that when it comes right down to it, the mark of a good therapist is that they interact with you in a principled, ethical, emotionally supportive way to help you:
deepen your understanding of your own mind, the minds of other people, and the effects of the social environment on mental functioning,
improve your ability to communicate and foster more satisfying relationships,
learn to accept that some amount of emotional discomfort is an unavoidable part of moment-to-moment experience for all of us, and
find ways to suffer less and thrive more.
Thatβs basically the name of the game as far as I understand it, though there are also many subtleties to therapy that I hope you will come to appreciate, as I do.
